Draft Angle & Taper Calculator

Avoid tooling modifications, drag marks, and ejection stresses. Select your plastic material, surface finish, and draw depth to calculate optimal draft angles and physical tolerances in real time.

Amorphous polymer with excellent dimensional stability. Moderate draft requirements.

Semi-gloss finish polished with fine emery paper. Good balance of cosmetics and release.

NTE Lab Engineering Insights

  • Cosmetic Mold Texture: Standard chemical grains (like Mold-Tech B2B textures) require a minimum of 1.5° of draft per 0.001 inches of texture depth to prevent scuffing and drag marks during ejection.
  • Part Clearance & Fitment: Your taper creates a physical offset of 0.6546 mm at the top of the wall. Ensure mating internal components or PCB edges clear this tapered boundary.
  • Material Considerations: Highly polished surfaces can stick; ensure ejector pins are placed near deep ribs.
